In 2016, the businessman was elected to preside over the Association of Private Banks of Bolivia (ASOBAN) in the city of La Paz; he continued in that role until last year. ASOBAN is a non-profit organization comprising the top banks that make up the Bolivian financial structure. Its objective is to propose, design and programme policies to promote the development of financial services.

Gutiérrez reaffirms his commitment to the sector and promotes education and financial inclusion programmes to contribute to the economic development of the Bolivian population.
