Liechtenstein Bankers Association: Outstanding Contribution to Good Bank Governance Liechtenstein 2022

LBA

Liechtenstein is an Alpine paradise known for its political stability and economic prowess. Liechtenstein Bankers Association strives to maintain and improve on the country’s renown as one the most prestigious and respectable financial hubs in the world. The association unites 12 Liechtenstein banks, which collectively have more than 5,000 employees and CHF 425 billion in assets under management worldwide. The association launched a new multi-year strategy, Roadmap 2025, that lays out guidelines for Liechtenstein banks to achieve growth through sustainability and innovation. It sets ambitious goals and is making good progress on all metrics. The association implements science-based standards to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions as well as offsetting projects to cover unavoidable emissions. Liechtenstein Bankers Association has fulfilled its net-zero commitment for 2021 and 2022 emissions through a carbon retirement partnership with a REDD+ project in Colombia. It commemorated the occasion with 500 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in collaboration with KlimaDAO, Swappable / TrustSwap. Initially, the NFTs could only be claimed by employees of member banks, making them ambassadors of the Roadmap 2025 strategy, but before end of November  2022, the tokens will become publicly available. Liechtenstein has passed some of the most transparent and comprehensive blockchain legislation in the world, providing a secure and trustworthy environment for cryptocurrencies, tokens and other digital assets. In recognition of its ongoing efforts towards sustainability and digitalisation, the CFI.co jury declares Liechtenstein Bankers Association as the repeat winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Good Bank Governance award (Liechtenstein, 2022).
