BOŚ Bank: Best Green Banking Solutions CEE 2021

BOS Bank

BOŚ Bank, one of the top 10 banks of Poland, boasts a loan portfolio that’s classified as 36 percent green, financing projects that create positive environmental and ecological impacts. It aims to increase that figure to 50 percent by 2023. BOŚ Bank is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and over the decades its mission has remained the same — to accelerate the transition towards a democratic, free-market, low-carbon future. The bank sees itself not as a competitor but as a catalyst. It collaborates with multilateral institutions like the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to facilitate projects with strong ESG outcomes. It serves corporate and retail clients, with a focus on developing modern financial products to support the economy and the green transition. BOŚ Bank offers specialty loans to help clients implement clean energy solutions and purchase or lease zero-emission vehicles. The bank sees the green transition as one of the biggest global challenges — but also as one of Poland’s greatest investment opportunities. The country has the chance to modernise the economy across all sectors, from energy and transportation to agriculture and construction. The bank dedicates funding to offshore wind projects and clean air programmes. It promotes low-emission technology for personal cars and public transport. It is pushing for divestment of coal projects — which is still a legacy industry in Poland — in favour of financing transitional fuels. The CFI.co judging panel presents BOŚ Bank with the 2021 Best Green Banking Solutions (CEE) award.
