Managing-Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) \u2013 globally recognised as one of the best-run utility companies \u2013 is the driving force behind a number of innovative programmes aimed at expanding local expertise and contributing to the Emirate\u2019s policy of affording UAE nationals every opportunity to partake in, and benefit from, growing economic prosperity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Al Tayer launched a comprehensive policy that seeks to offer both job candidates and staff members ample facilities to further the development of their careers. Thus, DEWA helps form a highly qualified domestic workforce able to maintain and improve the already high performance of the utility. Mr Al Tayer also encourages Emiratis of both genders to submit open job applications. The company provides scholarships and grants at a number of prestigious universities and academies.<\/p>\n

Mr Al Tayer is transparent in his quest to reduce the number of foreign specialists in DEWA employ and replace them with equally capable UAE nationals. This process, the CEO admits, is evolutionary in nature, as the utility jealously guards its hard-earned reputation for corporate and operational excellence.<\/p>\n
