The company was renamed Lafarge Africa Plc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Judging Panel was impressed by the Lafarge\u2019s efforts to protect the interests of the minority shareholders throughout the process. We note that a non-executive board sub-committee was set up to lead the negotiations for Lafarge Wapco, an independent valuation was prepared by Standard Chartered Bank, that KPMG issued a fairness opinion and that the board\u2019s audit committee assessed the transaction and approved the same before bringing it forward to the AGM. We also note Lafarge chose not to vote its shares at the AGM. Overall, corporate standards at Lafarge Africa are very high with policies and practices in place.
