Azer Turk Bank (ATB), a state-owned institution, has responded by placing ESG criteria and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan&#8217;s 2024 Green Taxonomy inside its lending and risk-management processes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The bank reported assets of AZN2.19bn at year-end 2025, while first-quarter 2026 net profit rose to AZN4.55m from AZN3.83m a year earlier. Those figures support the view that ATB is pursuing sustainability from a position of operating resilience rather than as a standalone branding exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As described to the panel, the bank&#8217;s rationale is rooted in risk control and capital allocation. Management framed climate and transition exposure as future liabilities if left outside portfolio decisions, especially as ATB moves further into corporate lending, where environmental and social impacts are more material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Execution is visible in product design and partnerships. The bank&#8217;s 2025 Green Business product offers preferential financing, commission exemptions and related benefits for eligible projects in renewable energy, waste management, water preservation, public health and environmental protection. ATB also signed an agreement with the energy regulatory agency to help clients access financing for energy-efficiency projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Governance and disclosure are advancing in parallel. ATB has prepared its first sustainability report for 2022\u20132024 under GRI standards, is working on a sustainability division and committee, and has aligned activity with the UN Global Compact. Its use of PCAF methodology to calculate Scope 3 emissions is notable where comparable disclosure is still developing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">ATB&#8217;s approach links sustainable finance to credit quality, transparency and institutional accountability.
