NLB d.d. (Nova Ljubljanska banka): Best Sustainable Banking Solutions Slovenia 2022

NLB d.d. (Nova Ljubljanska banka) is a public Slovenian company and a main entity of the NLB Group, a leading banking and financial group with headquarters and an exclusive strategic interest in Southeast Europe. NLB’s sustainability strategy is centred around three pillars: responsible financing, business ethics and social responsibility. NLB was the first bank from Slovenia to commit to the UN Principles for Responsible Banking and has embedded sustainability material concerns throughout its operations. In the spring of 2022, the bank has also joined the United Nations Net Zero Banking Alliance. While other institutions are setting far-off targets for emissions reduction, NLB has committed itself to stop investing in coal after 2020. It offers competitive green credit lines for customers undertaking an energy renovation or passive house certification. In the first half of 2022, the group achieved a 25 percent increase in recurring profit before impairments and provisions, compared to the same period the previous year.
